About

My name is Nicholas Chase, and I’m a professional programmer and technical writer. I specialize in web programming, with Java and PHP being my primary languages. I can also work in C#, ASP, and Perl if necessary.

Over the years I’ve worked on dozens of large scale web applications, but for the last several years, most of them have been behind firewalls, so I’m afraid I can’t link to them here. But I can tell you that I specialize in hard-core complex applications that integrate with large-scale databases, and as opposed to your mom-and-pop sites. (I’m also currently doing some work on the CMS used by LVSYS.)

My forte is in taking complicated technical topics and breaking them down so that they’re understandable to readers without previous experience. In additional to more than 350 tutorials and articles on IBM developerWorks (see them here and here, I’ve written a number of books, including:

XML Primer Plus
Active Server Pages 3.0 From Scratch
HTML and XHTML: Creating Web Pages
Easy HTML for eBay
XML and Java from Scratch

I have also contributed chapters to: Beginning XML (Programmer to Programmer), Special Edition Using Microsoft Office Word 2007, and Special Edition Using Oracle8/8I. (I am not the author of Locksley, A Novel Of Robin Hood, but I have always been a big fan of the outlaw.)

If you’ve got requirements I can help you with, you can hire me through oDesk or contact me directly.

Thanks for stopping by!
